Fire damages construction trailer

Vernon firefighters were called to the 8500 block of Okanagan Landing Road at about noon Sunday

A fifth-wheel trailer sustained significant fire damage Sunday.

Vernon firefighters were called to the 8500 block of Okanagan Landing Road at about noon after receiving a report of smoke and flames coming out of a trailer at a construction site.

“It’s not suspicious,” said Jack Blair, deputy fire chief.

“The fire appears to have been in the kitchen — possibly the fridge or the stove.”

The only challenge for firefighters was a propane tank attached to the trailer.

“They just had to be a little careful with that,” said Blair.
