Coldstream residents can have their say on flooding.

The municipality is seeking feedback from the public on the flood response this spring and summer.

“People can provide formal comments and suggestions on the (district) website,” said Mayor Jim Garlick, who raised the issue at Monday’s council meeting.

Among the possible topics are the locations of sand and sandbags as well as the collection of sandbags no longer needed.

“If they have suggestions for improvements we can implement, great. We want to hear from them because they lived the experience,” said Garlick.

Garlick also anticipates there may be input on the flood related details provided to residents on the district website during the emergency.

“We could have been more clear with the information and instructions and what we can and can’t do as a municipality.”

As an example, the provincial government, not Coldstream, is responsible for the amount of water released from Kalamalka Lake.

“We don’t control everything, but we want to do what we can,” said Garlick.
