Ian Jensen/Morning Star Work takes place on Lakeshore Road Friday to protect from rising flood waters on Okanagan Lake. Work is expected to continue today.

Sand-filled structures are installed by the Okanagan Indian Band on Kin Beach Friday because of rising Okanagan Lake levels along Lakeshore Road in Vernon.

Lakeshore Road has been temporarily closed to thru traffic.

Lakeshore Road, which crosses through Priest Valley Indian Reserve #6, is temporarily closed as measures are being taken by the Okanagan Indian Band to protect the area. The road is scheduled to re-open Friday at 6 p.m. and remain open throughout the weekend. Lakeshore Road will close again at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 5 until possibly June 10. The road will remain open to local traffic.

BC Transit bus routes 7 and 8 have been detoured along Tronson Road, therefore service will not be available on Lakeshore Road or Okanagan Landing Road near Marshall Field during the closures.
