An Oyama family had a close encounter they’ll never forget.
The Maloney family was sandbagging their Kalamalka Lake property Saturday when 11-year-old Alexis decided to take a break and do some fishing.
“Alexis was standing on what used to be the grass she played on at her friend’s and is now a pool of water,” said mom Crystal Maloney.
“She grabbed her fishing rod and in a short time, she was shrieking, ‘I caught one.’ She brought smiles to all of us working so hard. Kids always find a way to bring joy to any situation.”
The carp was sent free and put back into Kalamalka Lake.
