North Okanagan museums are benefitting from Canada’s birthday celebrations.

Five projects are receiving B.C./Canada 150 grants.

“We are truly excited about the lasting legacies that will be created through this funding,” said David Alexander, president, of the B.C. Museums Association.

The local funding includes $20,000 for the Enderby Museum to repair the roof on the Springbend one-room school while the Falkland Historical Society will get $10,000 for McClounie’s Cash Store $10,000.

The Lake Country Heritage and Cultural Society will get $20,000 for heritage markers on the rail trail and the Lumby Museum is receiving $16,000 for the Sharing our History through Pictures program.

In Vernon, the Caetani Cultural Centre Society will get $30,000 for the Caetani Centre presentation space and heritage project.

“Through this investment, culture and heritage will be honoured today and enjoyed by future generations. B.C.’s museums and heritage sector - which contributes greatly to our province’s economy and quality of life - will be also be strengthened,” said Alexander.
