Significant government dollars are rolling into Armstrong and Spallumcheen for infrastructure.

Armstrong is receiving $525,390 in federal-provincial funding for wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation.

“Our province has continuously prioritized the safeguarding of our environment,” said Greg Kyllo, Shuswap MLA.

“Armstrong is gaining a valuable investment in a broader pledge of environmental responsibility.”

In Spallumcheen, $800,000 from the provincial government is going towards flood protection.

“Spallumcheen is a small community that experiences regular flood risk, and this agreement is a great addition to the ongoing investments in flood protection,” said Kyllo.

The grant will improve flood protection in the area currently administrated by the Fortune Creek Drainage and Diking District by improving the current berm and dredging the channel.

Spallumcheen also agreed to accept the operation and maintenance of this berm if the government decides to transfer it at some time in the future, allowing this berm to be part of Spallumcheen’s flood mitigation planning into the future.
