Games volunteers still needed

Noth Okanagan residents are still needed behind the scenes for a major event.

The 55+ BC Games has about 1,000 volunteers signed up but the goal is for 1,200.

“It’s a terrific opportunity to showcase what Vernon and area residents do best. We are wonderful community ambassadors and seasoned veterans at helping and hosting visiting guests,” said Anne Haight, promotions director.

“Plus, for me personally, I will watch some of these inspiring athletes in action and hope to emulate their competitive spirit and energy in my later years.”

Volunteers are currently being sought for hosts, participant accreditation, photographers, traffic control, warehouse, environment, volunteer registration, marshalling and various sports.

To volunteer, go to http://www.volunteervernon.ca/?m=1

The 55+ BC Games will be in Greater Vernon Sept. 12 to 16.
