Canada Day is set to be celebrated in Vernon.
Good Samaritan Heron Grove will be having their annual Canada Day parade at 10 a.m. on Friday.
The parade has been upgraded this year and will include a Thunderbird and two local bagpipers.
Recreation and Volunteer Coordinator Chris Smith said residents get involved in different ways that add to the dynamic of the parade.
“It’s fun for everyone,” said Smith.
The group of participants will be decked out in red and white carrying Canada Day flags as they make their way past the cottages and to the end of the street where the gathered will sing O Canada.
Resident Jamey Brew said the parade is important to him because of it’s ability to show the contrast of people at Good Samaritan Heron Grove by getting people involved with tasks they individually enjoy.
Brew is Canada proud and has been involved in the parade for all five of the years it has taken place.
“It’s tradition,” said Brew.
Steven Brown will be dressing as Justin Trudeau to give a prime minister speech in honour of the 150th birthday of Canada, but refused to give Smith a pre-glance at what will be said, opting to make him wait.
“I’m not sure what to expect,” Smith laughed.
The public is invited to attend and enjoy the parade this Friday at 10 a.m..
