B.C. will be provided with over $264,940,736 through federal Gas Tax Funds (GTF) this year.

Community infrastructure projects can be supported by GTF after the first of two annual installments of $132.97 million was delivered to BC from the Government of Canada.

The funding flows through the Union of B.C. Municipalities to all communities on a per capita basis, which gave $1,661,843 to Vernon, $255,619 to Armstrong, $176,185 to Enderby, $546,397 to Lake Country, and $125,521 to Lumby.

GTF helps communities make strategic investments across 18 different project categories, including roads and bridges, public transit, drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, and recreational facilities.

“The federal Gas Tax Funds continues to provide valuable long-term stable and predictable funding to all Local Governments in B.C. for critical investments in local and regional infrastructure and capacity building priorities,” said Murry Krause, president of Union of B.C. Municipalities.
