Lumby is bracing for high water.

As of Friday morning, there is no flooding in Lumby itself but Duteau Creek along Highway 6, from Dure Meadow Road to the village boundary, has risen about two feet in 48 hours.

“It’s spilled its bank in many places,” said Melanie Wenzoski, deputy corporate officer.

As a result, Forest Service and village firefighters are putting sandbags into place to protect property in the village, particularly in low-lying areas.

Water levels along Bessette and Harris creeks are currently not a problem.
