UPDATE MAY 7: As of 6 a.m., Highway 97A remains closed in both directions from Grindrod to Sicamous because of a mud slide. Traffic controlled detour available for passenger vehicles, light trucks and tour buses only.

On Highway 6, there is stil a washout eight kilometres east of Cherryville. The road is reduced to single-lane alternating traffic with a 24 hour pilot car service.

UPDATE: As of 8:30 a.m., both Highway 6 eight kilometres east of Cherryville and Highway 97A between Grindrod and Sicamous remain closed.

North Okanagan motorists are experiencing some challenges Saturday because of weather.
