Construction in Coldstream is through the roof.

The first three months of 2017 saw 10 new units go up, compared to just five units for the first three months of 2016.

“We are off to a good start, with the number of housing units in 2017 at three times the same period in 2016,” said Bob Bibby, building official.

The construction value during that period has also skyrocketed, sitting at $9.6 million, compared to $1.7 million for the same period last year. But the numbers are high due to a single house with a construction value of $5 million on Coldstream Creek Road.

March alone saw a total of 13 permits issued - three single family dwellings, five accessory buildings, two additions, one renovation, one plumbing existing accessory and one swimming pool with a total construction value of $6.5 million.

“This compares to five permits and construction value of $480,000 for the same month last year,” said Bibby.

Another 13 new applications were received for processing in the month of March.
