Lumby considers next steps

The Village of Lumby continues to gather information and answers around next steps after flooding.

The village is co-ordinating with a number of essential agencies to establish an information session for impacted residents.

“Once confirmed, details will be relayed directly to the residents who have registered with Emergency Social Service,” states a release.

“Details are expected to be confirmed Tuesday, with contact to impacted residents thereafter.”

The state of local emergency has been extended until Saturday, and the Emergency Operations Centre (250-547-1452) will remain open until further notice.

The village continues to work with the Canadian Red Cross to address the immediate needs of evacuees. The Canadian Red Cross can be reached at 1-888-800-6493.

“No evacuation orders or alerts have been lifted, and the public is reminded to exercise extreme caution around water and creek banks as they may be unstable,” states the release.

“All recreational trails (i.e. Salmon Trail) will remain closed until further notice. There are no boil water advisories are in effect for the Village of Lumby.”
