A Vernon man connected to a shooting in a local park has been found guilty of numerous offences related to the incident.

Jacob Daniel Lowes, born in 1985, was found not guilty of attempted murder but guilty on the lesser included offence of assault causing bodily harm in Supreme Court in Vernon Wednesday morning.

Lowes, who was also found guilty of four firearms-related offences, was one of three involved in an incident in August 2014 that began at the now-closed Green Valley Motel and ended in Polson Park.

RCMP responded in August 2014 after reports of shots fired at both the park and motel, where a robbery was believed to have taken place.

A date for Lowes’ sentencing is to be fixed on Monday.

Two other men involved in the incident were also charged. Their matters remain before the courts.
