UPDATE: Vernon emergency centre closes

UPDATE SUNDAY 2:46 PM: Water in the affected Harwood neighbourhood has receded and the situation has stabilized.

The Vernon emergency operations centre is standing down and the City of Vernon will continue to monitor water levels.

City crews report that water has receded in the Heron Glen subdivision. City of Vernon will continue to monitor throughout the weekend.

As of late Saturday morning, flooding has been reported near the Heron Glen strata in the 1800 block of 53rd Avenue.

And the west end of Beachcomber Bay Road, off of Tronson Road, has been closed due to flooding. Access is still available on the east side of Beachcomber Bay Road.

Sand and sandbags are available at city operations at the Pleasant Valley Road entrance and at the corner of Okanagan Landing Road and Okanagan Avenue.
