A portion of a Vernon road remains closed after a sinkhole developed.

Emergency personnel received a report at 1 p.m. Saturday that a vehicle had fallen into a sinkhole in the 3300 block of 42nd Avenue by Flaman Fitness.

“We are planning to complete the repair Tuesday morning,” said James Rice, the City of Vernon’s public works manager.

“We won’t know the cause until we complete the excavation around the failure.”
