The Restorative Justice Society – North Okanagan is hosting “An Evening of Justice and Theatre” on Thursday, Nov. 23 at the Schubert Centre.

Please join in celebrating National Restorative Justice Week – 2017 with a burger and beverage plus a live theatre performance with the People’s Law School’s Justice Theatre Troupe.

“We hope “An Evening of Justice and Theatre” will bring a greater understanding of the meaningful Restorative Justice Society’s work that is being done within the North Okanagan through a dramatized performance of a criminal trial followed by a Restorative Justice Circle,” said North Okanagan executive director Margaret Clark.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with the live performance starting at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $30 and available through www.ticketseller.ca.

Restorative justice is a community-based service that provides an alternative approach for dealing with crime & wrong-doings.

“This service is for the person harmed (victim) first and foremost with a focus on the person who caused harm (accused),” said Clark. “The person who caused the harm must admit to the harm done and agrees to participate. The person harmed agrees to participate.”

Those directly affected and involved in an incident are prepared to meet face-to-face in a facilitated conference to answer,

“What happened?”; “How were people affected?; “What can be done to repair the harm?”

The Restorative Justice Society – North Okanagan is supported by a core group of trained volunteer RJ practitioners and a board of directors.
