The Township of Spallumcheen has looked to Boundary country for its new administrator.

Doug Allin, the chief administrative officer for the City of Grand Forks, has been hired for the same role in Spallumcheen, effective March 27.

Allin will take over the position vacated when Corey Paiement resigned to join the Columbia Shuswap Regional District.

“I love the location,” said Allin, 47, married with two kids. “The issues they’re facing, they’re things I feel comfortable addressing in that they’re areas I specialize in.”

Allin, who spent nine years with the District of Peachland as director of operations and engineering from 2004-2012, has a solid background in water issues and asset management.

Allin has been vice-president of the Public Works Association of B.C. and a director with the Water Supply Association of B.C.

He is currently a director with Asset Management B.C.

“Doug brings leadership strengths proven throughout more than 25 years in local government,” said Mayor Janice Brown in making the announcement at Monday’s regular council meeting.

Brown said Allin’s strengths includes leadership in community engagement, development services, economic development, asset management and sustainability.

The township, said Brown, is looking forward to working with Allin as he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.

“The development of sewer and water infrastructure, to promote the community’s long-term sustainability, is a high priority in our strategic plan,” said Brown.

“With Doug’s guidance and background in these areas, we are hoping to accelerate the implementation of several outstanding projects to achieve these objectives.”
