A man walking to work at 4:15 a.m. Sunday thought he heard some unusual noise coming from Home Building Centre on 27th Street.

He was right.

RCMP attended and also heard noise like banging and metal noises from the large fenced storage compound on the property.

“Three people were located and arrested inside the compound for break-and-enter,” said Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“From the looks of what was going on inside there, they were compiling a variety of merchandise to take with them. We’re lucky the gentleman made the decision to call.”

A 40-year-old man from the Kitimat area, and a 32-year-old woman from Lake Country, were released from custody on promises to appear in court.

A 38-year-old Vernon woman was held in custody, scheduled to appear in Vernon Provincial Court Monday.

Names are not being released at this time.

Tool box taken

Police were notified at 6:30 p.m. Friday that a tradesman had his toolbox stolen from a worksite in the 2900 block of 33rd Street in Vernon.

“The tool box was a black-and-orange Black and Decker box,” said Noseworthy.

The contents included a variety of hand tools, all of which have the initials M.J. engraved on them.

The estimated value of the contents is between $400 and $500.

Anybody with any information on the theft is asked to call the RCMP at 250-545-7171, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are looking for a red 2000 two-door Honda Civic, stolen Sunday at 4 a.m. from the driveway of a residence in the 2500 block of 30th Avenue.

The car’s licence plate is EB913W.

Stolen truck

Police are investigating an unusual occurrence at a Westside Road business Saturday.

A red unplated 1991 Ford Ranger pickup was left in the parking lot of Bill’s New and Used Consignments because, according to RCMP, it needed repairs.

Shortly before noon, a Caucasian male in his 20s with short black hair, and wearing a black winter jacket, was seen walking into the parking lot.

“He put a new tire on the truck, then drove away in it,” said Noseworthy.

The owner of the truck was notified but did not recognize anybody from the description provided.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
