What caused a massive fire in the BX will likely never be known.

Flames consumed a 3,800 square-foot, two-storey house on Pheasant Road at about 6:30 p.m. Monday.

An excavator was needed Tuesday to extinguish the hot spots and to allow investigators to go through the debris.

“I don’t see much success because everything was destroyed. The cause will most likely be undetermined,” said

Bill Wacey, BX-Swan Lake fire chief.

The family was eating dinner when they smelled smoke. Going into the laundry room door, they discovered a wall of flames and fled the building.

All of the contents in the home were destroyed, as were four trucks and a car in the garage.

“To determine what started it will be difficult to determine,” said Wacey.
