Albert Emmanuel Finch born April 14, 1920, passed away April 2, 2009 peacefully with his family by his side in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Albert was born in Daphne and grew up in Spalding, Saskatchewan where he met and married his wife Alice Morin.
Albert joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1941 where he earned the rank of Sergeant with the Regina Rifles regiment, serving at home and overseas until Feb. 7, 1946.
After his service in the Army, Albert moved his family to McBride, BC where he started his career in 1954 with BC Hydro. In 1964 he worked on the Mica Dam project until 1969 then relocated to Vernon and retired from BC Hydro in 1985.
Albert is survived by his wife of 68 years Alice, his son Ralph (Mary Jane) and their children Mike (Marie), Darren (Terri Lynn), Brian and Trevor all of Kamloops, son Howard (Eunice) and children Michelle (Jack) Young of Barrier, Howard Jr. and Nonie (Tim) Turner of Vernon, daughter Sheila Finch (Barry Nodder) and son Lyle (Kerry) and their children Greg, Maggie and Will, all of Vernon. He has 7 great grand children and a niece, Kay Finch of Kamloops and many other brothers and sisters in-law. Albert was predeceased by his daughter Ruth, mother Sarah, father Richard and brother Art.
Albert loved the game of Baseball and Hockey and was a devoted Vernon Vipers fan. He enjoyed the company and looked forward to visiting with the fellow fans.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, a celebration of life will take place Tuesday, April 7 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation (Emergency and ICU), 2101-32 St., Vernon, BC V1T 5L2 and the Interior Region Canadian Diabetes Association, 1589 Sutherland Ave.,
