Albert Mario Dueck

In loving memory and great admiration of an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher and friend

Albert Mario (Bert) Dueck

August 10th, 1934 – August 3rd, 2008

After a short illness, Bert Dueck was unexpectedly taken from us to be with Jesus on the night of Sunday, August 3rd. He left this world peacefully, with his family close by his bedside at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

Bert will be greatly missed and his memory cherished by his wife, Berta; his son, Ray (Angie); his daughter, Renie (Dave) Kumpolt; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doreen (Hugo) Neufeld and Erna (Ernie) Wedel and step-siblings in the Olfert family. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Rory; his parents; step-father; eldest brother, Herman and eldest sister, Agnes.

Bert was born on August 10th, 1934 in Ste. Anne, Manitoba. He dedicated his life to Jesus at the age of 12. That year his family moved to Abbotsford, B.C. Bert completed high school at the Mennonite Educational Institute. Following graduation, he worked many jobs before deciding on the teaching profession. He married Berta Harder on August 22nd, 1959. After three years of teaching in Hazelton, B.C., they moved to Terrace with their first two children, Raymond and Renie, and later to Vernon, where their son Rory was born. After thirty years of teaching, Bert retired at age 55. During retirement he kept very busy – traveling, volunteering and going on mission trips. Until two weeks ago he was still out biking and hiking.

Those wishing to join in a farewell and sharing time while paying their last respects to Bert may do so at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Sunday, August 10th, 2008 from 2:00-3:30 P.M. A Celebration Of Bert’s Life will follow at the Vernon Alliance Church at 6:00 P.M. Bert will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Monday, August 11th, 2008.

Bert was an avid supporter of Eagle Bay Camp. Therefore, as an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in his memory to the camp through the Vernon Alliance Church, 2601-43rd Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 3L1
