Alice Violet MacDonald

1915 – 2010

It is with great sorrow that the loving family of Alice MacDonald announces her passing at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Sunday, July 11, 2010.

Alice was born January 17, 1915 in a cabin on the banks of the Fraser River in Prince George to William and Christina Gudwer. She met the love of her life in Alberta and with a family of six kids moved to Vernon in 1947 and to Lumby in 1948. Alice spent the last 15 years in Vernon. She loved her family and the next great love of her life was her flowers. Alice was an amazing woman who touched the hearts of many, especially through her teacup reading and will be truly missed.

Her memory will be cherished by sons: Bill (Lavender) MacDonald, Jim (Roma) MacDonald and John (Rita) MacDonald and daughters: Patricia (Orlando) Marchi, Jessie (Eddie) Marchi, Christine (Tony) Gutenberg and Ruby (Dave – deceased) Bruce; her brother Jim (Rita) Gudwer and sister Hazel Peterson; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Alice was predeceased by her parents, loving husband Rody (1978); grandson Calvin MacDonald, sister Ruby Beswick and brother Walter Gudwer.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 16, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Bethel Funeral Chapel Ltd., 5605 – 27th Street, Vernon, BC. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Alice may do so to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
