MR. ALVIN ARTHUR (AL) MCKAY, a long time resident of Vernon, passed away in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Monday, April 5th, 2004 with his family by his side, at the age of 83 years. He was born in Sunnyslope, Alberta on December 23rd, 1920 and came to Vernon in the early 1940’s. Al was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #25 and was active in bowling and playing darts for many years. He resided on the family farm for 52 years and loved animals and in his retirement years his passion was golfing. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Bob (Cheryl) of Calgary, Alberta, his granddaughter, Kari (Charles) Oliver and great-grandsons, Drue and Sterling of Vernon, B.C., his grandson, Shane (Lana) of Lethbridge, Alberta, his daughter, Debbie (Tim) Treger of Penticton, B.C., his grandson, Lindsy Fifer, his son, Ken (Gloria) and grandsons, Cody and Matt, all of Vernon, B.C and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife, Babs in 2002 and three brothers, Cecil, Gordon and Keith. The Funeral Service was held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 7th, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Peter Davison officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Al to the Canadian Diabetic Association, P.O.
