Alvin Rae Dickie passed away

suddenly at his residence in Lake Country,

BC on Dec 15, 2008. He is survived by

Margaret, his wife of 65 years, his 3 children

Eric (Simonne), Dora Crawford (Keith) and

Owen (Marj), nine grand children and 8

great-grandchildren.

Alvin was born July 16, 1918 in Parry Sound,

Ontario where he spent his childhood years.

On July 2, 1941, he enlisted in the RCAF and

was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt

on Oct 4, 1945. It was during his posting to

Brandon Manitoba that he met his bride,

Margaret Grace Bjarnason. They celebrated

their marriage on July 17, 1945.

Alvin was a carpenter by trade and spent some

time working in Brandon until purchasing the

lumber yard in Ninette, Manitoba and moving

his construction company there. Many happy

years were spent in Ninette with both Alvin and

Margaret very involved in the community. After

a brief move to Davidson, Sask and Brandon,

they retired to Ninette where he spent many

happy hours in his woodworking shop making

gifts and treasures for family and friends.

In 2002, Alvin and Margaret moved to Lake

Country to be closer to family where he resided

until his passing. He will be remembered as a

wonderful husband and father. At his request,

a private burial will be held at a later date in

Ninette. Donations in his memory may be
