Amy Salter

1913 – 2010

Amy Fielding Salter passed away peacefully at home in Armstrong, BC on Saturday, June 19, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Charlie.

She is survived by her daughters Gail (Glen) of Armstrong, Donna-Lee (Brian) of Haida Gwaii, and Amy-Jo (Michael) of Armstrong; four grandchildren Tracy-Lee (Ray) of Prince George, Kim (Terry) of Haida Gwaii, Tara-Jo (Mike) of Williams Lake, and Ross (Donna) of Calgary and eight great-grandchildren Ali, Luke, Issy, Asher, Abigail, Emma, Hunter and Grady.

Amy was born in Espanola, ON. on January 14, 1913 and grew up in Westmount, QC. She taught art in Montreal for 25 years and was a founding member and partner in Galerie du Village in Montreal. Amy and Charlie moved to Armstrong in 1989 where she continued to pursue her lifelong passion for painting. Still active at the age of 92, she designed and had built her retirement home where she continued to paint and make new friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service for Amy will be held on June 26th, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong, BC. Amy’s favourite charity was The Salvation Army, 3303 32nd Avenue, Vernon, BC, V1T 2M7.
