Arno (Arnie) Claluna

Arno (Arnie) Claluna was born on February 4th, 1929 in Stampa, Graubunden, Switzerland and passed away on July 16th, 2008 at Hospice House in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 79 years after a short but courageous battle with Leukemia.

Arnie will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; his children, Adriana (Ossie) Venasse of Whitehorse, Yukon, Guido (Sandy) Claluna of Vernon, B.C. and Nilda (Joe) Wiebe of Edmonton, Alberta; four grandchildren, Kean, Antonia, Ben and Lance; two sisters, Annetta Signer and Irma Brunner, both in Switzerland; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Arnie and Mary were married in Switzerland in 1956 and came to Canada right after their marriage, settling first in Brampton, Ontario. The following year they moved to B.C., residing in various spots in the North Okanagan and finally made their permanent home in Lavington where they have resided since 1961. Arnie worked for B.C. Hydro for 32 years and spent the rest of his time farming, which was his passion in life.

Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Arnie’s Life which will be held at Trinity United Church on Thursday, July 24th, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Mrs. Sheila Odney officiating.
