BARBARA MacKENZIE PRYCE-ERICKSON

… passed away peacefully November 14th, 2004 in Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Pryce in 1939, and her second husband, Fredrik Erickson in 1979, one son Alfred in 1968, five stepsons, her brother Norris Sharp, and sisters Katherine Sharp and Alexandra (Biddy) Haines. She is survived by her loving, loyal daughter (in-law) Nelly and son Brian Pryce of Vernon, son Bruce Pryce of Williams Lake, B.C., daughters Sydney McCrea of Spokane, Wash., and Sharon Free of Vernon, sister-in-law Eleanor Sharp, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many extended family and friends. Barbara was born in Red Deer, Alta., and spent her middle / high school years in Woodstock, N.B., living with extended family. She returned to B.C. to live with her father and mother, Humboldt and Mary Sharp, long time pioneers in the Salmon River Valley. She married at 18 and bore five children. However, a tragic hunting accident left her widowed and she then moved to bring her children up in Penticton, B.C. She later retired with her second husband to Victoria and then during her last years she returned to Vernon. We will always remember: Her unbeatable courage and dignity, her belief in hard work and Scottish thrift, her laughter and her deep and abiding love for her children and great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A private family service will be held at the Pryce family gravesite and a Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
