BARRY JAMES GRANNARY

GRANNARY – BARRY JAMES – The Honourable Judge Barry James Grannary passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2005. After four years, cancer eventually overcame Barry’s body but his indomitable, courageous spirit remained to the end. He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, beloved son, Ian, his mother Ruth, sisters Gayle Farr and Brenda Quenneville and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Robert Grannary. Barry was born in Montreal on April 7, 1950. After completing a BSc. Degree at Loyola University, he attained his law degree at U.B.C. and was called to the Bar in 1976, He practiced criminal law in Revelstoke, Vernon and Kelowna before being appointed to the Provincial Court of BC in 1993. Barry enjoyed his work and greatly valued his colleagues throughout the province. Throughout the years, he was involved in many professional, community and charitable organizations. Most recently, he was the regional president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He enjoyed sports, especially hockey and baseball, but his highest priority was to spend time with his family. Of all his many accomplishments, Barry considered fatherhood his most important, and his greatest joy was simply being Ian’s dad. Mass and a celebration of Barry’s life was held Tuesday June 7, 2005 at 10:30 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna.
