Buddy Byer

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Buddy Byers on October 1st, 2009 in Vernon, British Columbia.

Buddy was born May 15, 1919 in Morrin, Alberta and spent many years in Alberta. During WWII he served with the RCAF in England. In 1947 he married Ruth Clark. In Alberta, Buddy owned a coal delivery service and later from 1956 – 1965 he owned and operated the Milo Hotel in Milo. In Vernon, BC from 1965 – 1966 he owned Bud’s Spudnut Shop and Thompson’s Cleaning Service. For a number of years he and Ruth lived in Cranbrook and in 2003 they returned to Vernon. Buddy enjoyed fishing and curling and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

He will be forever loved and his memory will be held dear in the hearts of his wife, Ruth, to whom he was married for sixty-one years; daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Zimmerman of Vernon, BC; sons: Craig (Coling) Byers of Richmond, BC, Gordon (Marilyn) Byers of Calgary, AB and Ken Byers of Kelowna, BC. Further cherishing his memory are seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A family Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 10th, 2009 in Morrin, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in Buddy’s memory to a charity of choice.

As Buddy would say, “If you get lost, come back”.
