Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Byron Clare Wiltse - Born January 29,1924 in Foremost Alberta Canada and passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at Hearthstone Manor in Vernon BC Canada

Byron was born in Foremost Alberta to parents  Percy and Violet Wiltse. He grew up with three older sisters Elizabeth, June and Phyllis in the Lethbridge area and Creston BC. Byron served in the RCAF from 1943 to 1946, training in Canada and England before being deployed to India.

He received his B Ed from UBC, teaching in Lake Cowichan, Kimberley and Keremeos.  He retired from teaching in 1983 to garden, create fantastic soups and travel with his wife Yvonne.

He loved to fish, tying his own flies and wandering along many rivers in his waders, from  Arrow Creek and Goat River in Creston, to the Similkameen River in Keremeos BC. He was so at home in the outdoors, picking wild huckleberries in Kimberly to make jam with, asparagus along the railway tracks in Cawston, BC or morel mushrooms wherever he could find them.

Byron  appreciated a good scotch and a challenging game of crib with anyone willing to risk defeat.

He was a gentle, quiet, very witty man who loved his family and friends.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Yvonne Wiltse, and daughters of both Byron and Yvonne, respectively; Lynne (Linda), Mary, Carla: Noelle (Rick), Pat(John), and Pauline.

His grandchildren, nieces and nephews will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norah (Errington) and son, Mark.

We will be  celebrating this wonderful man and toasting him with the best scotch at a memorial in the near future.

Many thanks to Dr. Hayward and to the excellent staff at Hearthstone Manor.
