Bryon Roderick, age 66 years of Grand Forks passed away November 11, 2005. He was born April 12, 1939 in Nelson, B.C., the son of Edith and Frank W. Sims.He grew up and received his schooling in Chilliwack, B.C. served in the military with the Royal Canadian Air Force. On September 23, 2005, he was united in marriage to Margaretha Van De Mortel at Vancouver B.C. They lived in Grand Forks, recently moving from Vernon, B.C. Bryon was very active in the Royal Canadian Legion for 44 years. He was past president of the Vernon Legion. Bryon volunteered at the 2005 Grand Forks International and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was predeceased by his father, mother and sister Carole, and his first wife Floreen. He is survived by Margaret Sims of Grand Forks; sister Doris and husband Frank Teindl of Mission B.C.; aunt Evelyn Sims and nieces and nephews of New Westminister; step-children: Kelly, Tim and Kevin Montgomery; and Tracey Schroeder of Alberta; grandchildren: Jessie and Joshua Schroeder, and Mark, Karyn, Houston, Katie and Sean Montgomery all of Alberta; also, stepchildren: Christina, Dace and Desmond Moore of Vancouver; Brianna Moore of Vernon; and grandchildren Aja Moore and Anika Swart of Vancouver. A Celebration of Life was held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Grand Forks on Tuesday, November 15, 2005. Another Celebration will be held in Vernon on Thursday, November 17, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bryon’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
