CAREY FAWDRY

Carey Fawdrey a resident of Vernon BC, formally of Dawson Creek, BC. Passed away in Hospice House May 17, 2003 at the age of 68. Carey was born on July 13, 1934, in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver, to Scott & Della Fawdrey. He was the middle child of five children. When Carey was in his early teens, the family decided to move north to Dawson Creek with the idea of homesteading.

Carey’s first job was delivering telegrams and later worked at the wholesales Mcdonald’s & Horn & Pittfield, where he saved enough money to buy a 1953 Mercury truck. In 1955 he met & married Carole Harper and together they raised three daughters. He built his first home, which started a career in carpentry. He worked for Erwin Homes for many years and had the branch office in his home; then later started his own construction company, C&C Construction. Carey was a strong family man and enjoyed fishing & hunting in his early years. He also was an active member in the Kiwanis Club. After their daughters were married and left home, they moved to Vernon BC. He was a member of the Naturalist Club and enjoyed birding, traveling, camping trips and meeting with friends at the Bay coffee shop. Carey had a great sense of humor, a love of family and friends.

Carey was predeceased by both parents Scott & Delia Fawdrey and father in-law Burt Harper. He is survived by his wife Carole and his three daughters Christine (Ray) Schultz, Holly Doern, Susan (Guy) Pollock. Brothers: Stewart & Aleck, sisters Kit & Gale. 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, mother-in-law, Nora Harper and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Friday, May 23, 2003 at 11:00AM with the Reverend Anita Desjardins officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Pleasant Valley Tea Room. Those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Carey may do so to the Hospice House 3506 27th, Ave Vernon, BC V1T 1S4. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the PLEASANT VALLEY FUNERAL HOME (542-4333).
