Carol Lynda Mouland

August 14, 2017

It is with great sorrow that the family of Carol Lynda Mouland announce her sudden passing on Monday August 14, 2017. Carol was born on March 9, 1951 in Vancouver to Roy and Ella Mouland; their only child. Carol lived throughout British Columbia and the Yukon before settling in Vernon, BC, where her parents ran the Westgate Motel. Carol made many life-long friends during her years working at the Vernon Lodge and then as a RN at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Independent with a strong spirit, Carol traveled across Canada twice, once by train on her own as a young girl, and again in 1986 by car with her father, step-mother, and daughter. She also backpacked through Europe after graduation and then again in her late 40’s. Carol loved music and attended many festivals across Canada such as the Vancouver Folk Festival, Craven Valley Jamboree, Big Valley Jamboree, and the Winnipeg Folk Festival. An adventurous soul, Carol loved learning, and trying new things. In her later years, Carol discovered a passion for quilting and was an active member in both the After Seven Sew and Sews and the Vernon Silver Star Quilting Guilds and was a regular attendee at the Absolutely Obsessed quilting retreats. Carol’s greatest loves were her family, especially her grandchildren, and her two cats. Carol’s family and friends will miss her vibrant spirit, her generous and loving nature, and her unconditional love and support.

Carol’s family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Wiseman, Dr. Crowley, Dr. Hwang, Dr. Vaz, and the extraordinary nurses and staff of the ICU at VJH for their incredible care and compassion.

Many thanks as well to her quilting guilds as they will host a quilt show and tea in her honour

“Death is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly shedding its cocoon. It is no different from taking off a suit of clothes one no longer needs. It is a transition to a higher state of consciousness where you continue to perceive, to understand, to laugh, and to be able to grow” - Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross.
