Cecile Marie Laventure (nee Rudiger)

Cecile Marie Laventure (Rudiger) was born March 2nd, 1938 in Legal, AB to Louis and Lucienne Rudiger. She was the 4th of 12 children. She was raised in Lac La Biche, AB. She passed away at Heron Grove July 13th, 2017 from dementia. As a strong independent woman, she moved out of her family home at 16 years old to work for the Alberta Telephone Company then worked for the Magistrate. She met and married Victor Laventure, together they worked in the hotel and raised 3 children. In 1974, the family moved to Enderby, BC to run The Enderby Motor Inn. Eventually she moved with the children to Vernon, BC where she worked for ICG Canadian Propane. She started collecting interesting antiques, bringing them home it home creating amazing works of art or bring the furniture back to its original glory often selling it for double what she invested. In 1983, she decided to take her hard work ethic and make it work for herself, starting Classic Flea Market, then later Classic Curios. She made a living at this for over 15 years until she was forced to retire due to an injury. Cecile loved to dance, a challenging game of crib, or curling. She spent much time raising dogs, creating amazing rock gardens, and helping those in need. With taking inspiration from the bible and her love of Jesus, she has taught her children, grandchildren, and friends a strong sense of family, responsibility, and love. Her legacy will carry on through with her daughter Yvonne (Mark) Beahm, son Bob Laventure, and daughter Nicole Makohoniuk. Her grand children Raja, Braetanna (Bryn), Mikayla, Destiny (Travis), Jaymie, Alexus, and Zachary. She was predeceased by her parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters-in-laws, 1 brother-in-law, and her granddaughter Serena Laventure. She is survived by 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 3 sisters-in-laws, 1 brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please spend time with your family, take them for a special dinner or donate to Vernon Women’s Transition House Society (2400 46th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 9N5). We would like to say a special thank you to all the nurses and care aids at Heron Grove.

The Prayer Service will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday July 20th, 2017 and her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Friday July 21st, 2017 at Our Lady of the Valley (10102 Middleton Dr, Coldstream, BC).
