Charles Burrell

Charles Frederick Burrell

February 6, 1917 – April 13, 2007

“Charlie” was born on the family homestead in the Swan River Municipality in Manitoba to Thomas and Grace Burrell. He and his brother, Herb, were the only boys in a family of twelve. He was raised on the farm where he later met and married Marjorie Lenderbeck in 1939. Over the years they raised three children while Charlie farmed, worked for Brandon Packers and later worked for Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting in Flin Flon before moving to Aldergrove, B.C. in 1964. There he held a variety of jobs before retiring to Vernon in 1980. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge and was very proud of his 50 year pin. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of 67 years, two daughters: Audrey (Charles A. Scott) of Vernon, Marilyn (Calvin) Thompson of Anglemont and one son, Garry (Bunny) Burrell of Kamloops, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Kathleen (John) Allen of Sussex, N.B., Ruth Radford of White Rock, B.C. and Phyllis Framingham of Edmonton, Alberta.

A small gathering of family and friends was held Saturday, April 21 at the W.I. Hall in Coldstream. The Burrell family would like to thank the W.I. ladies for the use of their hall and also for the lovely lunch which they provided at such short notice. A thank you also to the Vernon Funeral Home for their help and support.

In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of choice would be gratefully appreciated.
