Cheryl Walker

Cheryl Lucille Virginia

Walker

I was born on March 30th, 1944 in Calgary, AB and ended this part of life’s journey peacefully on the afternoon of July 4th, 2010 in Hospice House with my family at my side. My 66 years of life were filled with much activity and enjoyment. In my youth I enjoyed Ukrainian dancing. In the late 1960s I moved to Vancouver where I had two daughters and after our family moved to Cranbrook, I had a son. In 1990 I finally settled into my desired home of Vernon and remained here ever since. With my love of gardening and walking, I spent many happy years in Vernon surrounded by my family. I enjoyed many activities over the years such as bowling, sewing, playing the keyboard, dancing and skiing. During my later years I would simply enjoy sitting outside, watching the kids play and go to visit my friends on my scooter, especially when it meant a trip across the city.

My children were my reason for my existence on the earth. Each one of you brought me happiness and I will always be with you. My children, Karen (Rick) Kurbis, Rebecca Walker and Jeremiah (Karina) Walker; grandchildren, Acaylia, Kloe and Kelias Kurbis; my sweet stepchildren who have been such a bonus in my life, Mitchell (Lala) Walker, Gwen Walker and Dee (Randy) Lennon; my brother, Richard (Shirley) Rogess; my nieces, Sandy (Murray) Finkbiner and Debbie (Scott) McNeil; and my nephew, David (Leslie) Rogess are all so precious to me. I loved my little companions who were with me through my life, those being my Yorkshire terrier, Susie, Hannah, Franklin, Braylorne and Timber. I leave behind my dearest friends, Donna Franz, Kathy Kiryna, Mary & Don Kurbis and the neighbor girls, Felicia, Madyson and Shannon. I will love all of you forever. My parents, Frank & Helen Rogess preceded me in death.

I have requested that I be cremated and no funeral service held but those who wish to do so may send donations in my memory to the North Okanagan Hospice House, where they provide comfort, dignity and respect, or to the Community Care Nurse.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital nurses, the Community Care nurses, and the staff at Hospice House for their compassionate support and excellent care.

Cheryl, you are loved by all who knew you and you will be greatly missed, especially by us, your family.
