Dan Frederick Gelowitz, born October 9th, 1935 passed away peacefully July 10th, 2017 at the age of 81. A loving husband to wife Andrea of 54 years and loving and supportive father to Warren, Alison, Lana (Dusty) Sampert and Karyn. He loved and was proud of all 5 of his grandchildren Erik, Tyson, Camryn, Jackson and Caden ‘til his last days. He was born in Dubuc, Sask, third of six siblings. He met Andrea in Regina and moved to Vernon in 1967. He spent his days working hard as a letter carrier at Canada Post for 35 years until he retired to do his best to drive his wife crazy puttering around the house and relaxing in his favorite chair. He was a devout Catholic and found peace and tranquility in his beliefs. His disease may have stolen his memories but they couldn’t touch his easy going, laid back, patient soul. Love you forever, ‘til we meet again. Donations may be made in Dan’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association (PO Box 12013 STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3) or the Alzheimer Society of BC (The People Place, 102 - 3402 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S1).
There will be Vigil Prayers held at 5:00pm on Friday, July 14th, 2017 and a Funeral Service held at 10:30am on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church (2607 27th Street, Vernon, BC V1T 4W1).
