DARYL WEITZEL

Weitzel, Daryl Hugh passed away on January 19, 2004 at Hospice House after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Penticton, Daryl was predeceased by is father Joseph Adam Earl Weitzel (1939), his step-father Channon Bonaparte Snow (1969), his mother Pauline Jensine Snow (1994) and his brother Robert Weitzel (1997). Daryl is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 46 years, Connie; 3 daughters: Janet (Rick) Klopp of Coquitlam, Dawn (Fred) Voysey of Fernie, Sharon (Brad) Shaigec; son: Bruce (Carole) Weitzel all of Vernon, 10 grandchildren: Alicia, Lindsay, Alex, Kelsey, Benjamin, Colby, Brett, Jason, Karlie & Marcie, his sister: Muriel Weitzel of Summerland, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and acquaintances. Daryl spent 38 years in the retail oil business at Daryl’s Chevron Station, was Past President of Kiwanis, former Chairman of the Recreation Commission, and as a member of the Centennial Committee, he spearheaded the idea of the outdoor Centennial skating rink, which is still enjoyed by the community today. He was a member of Rotary and a strong supporter of activities involving youth. Daryl had a great love of the outdoors, enjoying many trips hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing bridge and he and Connie made many trips world wide. Daryl and Connie have a beautiful retreat at Shuswap Lake, which they have enjoyed for 23 years. A Celebration of Daryl’s life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Anglican Church, with The Reverend Canon Chris Harwood-Jones and The Reverend Canon Peter Davison officiating. Cremation with interment to follow in the Coldstream Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Daryl’s memory may be made to the Hospice House, 3506 – 27 Ave., Vernon, BC, V1T 1S4 or to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, 2101 – 32 St., Vernon, BC, V1T 5L2.
