David Dutka

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of David Dutka early Thursday morning, June the 3rd, 2010 at the young age of 43 years.

David was a devoted, beloved husband to

Michele, a loving son to Nick and Grace (both deceased), a kind, considerate (and favourite) son-in-law to Peter and Anna (Anna predeceased) Hiebert, loving brother to Chris and the rest of his family, benevolent brother-in-law to Rhonda and many others. He was everyone’s favourite uncle. To Jerry and Jodey Blatchford, Verna Rogers and many here in Vernon and back in Ontario, he was a loyal friend. David and Jerry’s friendship was as Proverbs 18:24 poetically expresses, “there exists a friend sticking closer than a brother.”

His years living in Barrie, Ontario were some of the happiest of his life. The brothers and sisters in the Sunnydale and Vespra Congregations became true and lasting friends to David. He deeply appreciated these enduring friendships.

David was a talented artist, a master of double entendre, a gentleman and a scholar. He shared a passion for his cats, Flora and Fauna, who he sadly missed and for wonderful culinary creations and travel to historic, exotic places with his wife Michele. He enjoyed the opera and the diversity of cultures of his hometown area of Toronto, a Blue Jays game with his mother-in-law, and the waterslides with his western rowdy relatives. We loved his laugh, his repartee, his hugs, his dark humour, his repository of knowledge and his selfless generosity.

David was best known for his faith in and love for his God, Jehovah. He shared the Bible’s message of hope provided by God’s Kingdom with everyone he knew. This hope was his anchor as he faced sickness, severe health challenges and times of great loss.

The Family would like to express their deepest thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff in the ER, ICU and OR at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. We know that you did all you could to pull him through these last surgeries.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1424 Mission Road, Vernon, BC.

We all eagerly await David’s return in the resurrection when we will be united again as a family right here on earth in paradise conditions as promised in John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:3, 4 – a time when tears of sorrow will be replaced with tears of untold joy.
