David K. Smith

After several years of failing health, David died peacefully at the Gateby Care Centre on March 27, 2009, with his family close at hand.

Dave was born near Turner Valley, AB on March 23, 1922 to an English mother and an American father. He was predeceased in 1983 by his first wife, Helen Rumbles Davidson, RAF technician, War Bride and Mother of his children. Of his seven siblings, only Gordon survives him.

He leaves to mourn his wife Barbara, daughters Patricia (John) Brkich and Mary Bicknell, all of Vernon; son Dan (Robbi) of Maple Ridge, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, Barbara’s three children including step-son Adam Faulkner

and many friends and relatives.

Dave left home at an early age and eventually served with the British Columbia Dragoons in the Italian campaign. He was a proud member of the War Amputations of Canada, the BC Dragoon Whizzbang Association and the Royal Canadian Legion.

Honouring Dave’s wishes there will be cremation with a gathering of family and friends with interment at the Coldstream Cemetery on the Easter Weekend.
