Retired Sergeant Donald Richard Fraser died at Hospice House on Thursday, November 28, 2002, with his loving wife by his side. Donald was born on Thursday, December 28, 1944, at Grand Falls, Newfoundland. He married Gail Frances Upper at Armstrong, British Columbia in 1972. Don served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years. He was in the Military Police force and did two tours in Cypress, was in Germany and Norway, along with several postings in Canada. He received his C.D medal and was decorated with several service medals, retiring in 1989. Don was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Army, Navy, and Air Force Association. And enjoyed reading and writing, travel, carpentry, and was known for his good sense of humor. Predeceased by his father John and his half sister Mary Baxter, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family: wife, Gail, Armstrong, B.C.; mother, Ellen Fraser, Nova Scotia; brother, Harold (Betty), Nova Scotia; niece, Carrie (Rob); nephews, Bruce (Trish), Darren (Nicky); their families, Josh, Aidan, Bailey and Tyson; brother-in-law, Walter Upper (Sylvia), Carstairs, Ab.; and many friends. In keeping with his wishes, a celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later time when family can get together. Cremation. The Urn will be placed in the Columbarium at Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery at that time with full Military Honours.
