Dorothy (Dot) Enid York
(McMahon), aged 72 years, passed away at Vernon on Tuesday, August 22, 2006. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by husband Alan McMahon of Vernon; sons Ron (Judy) York, grandchildren Jeff and Kaley of Kamloops and Robert of Vancouver; sisters Harlene (Dusty) Rhodes of Victoria and Mary Lynn (Emerson) Sayers of Kamloops; step-children Ryan McMahon of Vancouver, Ruth McMahon of Ottawa and Heather (Dave) Rebagliati of Houston, BC, grandchildren Brad, Michelle and Greg; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Predeceased by first husband Dick York, son Richard York, brother Ken Rice, two sisters Joan McKibbon and Shirley Reynolds. Born on May 26, 1934 at Elk Point, Alberta, Dot has been a long time resident of Vernon, working as an accountant until retirement. She loved spending time with family, friends and on the farm. Dot was very active, enjoying square dancing, curling, golf and weight training. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 2, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the family residence, 37-124 Sarsons Road (Quail Run), Vernon. A message will be given at 3:00 p.m. followed by an open mike for friends to share their memories of Dorothy. Please bring a lawn chair. Captain Sean Wong officiating.
