Dorothy Long passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Alexander Wing after a short stay of three weeks. Dorothy was born on February 4, 1915, on a farm near Carberry, Manitoba. During the first years of her marriage, she and her husband were transferred five times in six years with little time to settle down until they moved to Regina in 1954. There, Dorothy was active in the U.C.W. ladies group at the United Church and was a successful Avon Lady, winning numerous awards. She and her husband retired and later moved to Vernon in 1990. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Borden to whom she was married for nearly 60 years. Also lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brenda (Edward Millin) of Vernon; two grandchildren, Nathan Millin of Victoria and Bronwyn Millin of Vernon; and one great granddaughter, Keira Millin of Victoria. Also survived by one sister, Winnie of Carberry, Manitoba and numerous relatives and nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Ada and Albert King: two sisters, Evelyn and Florence, and two brothers, Bobby and Leonard. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Chapel, Rev. Dr. Ed Millin officiating. Reception to follow.
