It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Douglas James Currie on December 25th, 2009, at his home in Vernon at the age of 74 years. Doug was born on August 3rd, 1935, in Young, Saskatchewan, and is predeceased by his parents James and Jean, two brothers, Bill, Bud and his wife Hazel. Douglas is survived by his loving children, Todd (Donna), Dan (Jamie), Dean, Tracey (Emilio Fuoco), Gina (Matthew Campbell).
His grandchildren: Keli, Lindsay, Carson, Danica, Kristian, Landon, Ariel, Brennan, Rylan, Aidan, Lucas, and great granddaughter Tenaea. He will be sadly missed by his special partner Mary-Lou and her extended family. Doug is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Eileen (George) Reg, Don (Valerie), Larry (Lynne). Ken (Sandra), Marilyn (Dale), sister-in-law, Louise and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug enjoyed living in Prince George for over 30 years where he raised his family and will be fondly remembered by many customers and friends who knew him and Hazel during the 18 years they owned and operated Doug’s Better Buy Market. After leaving Prince George, Doug resided in the Okanagan area where he was enjoying his retirement years. He will be sadly missed by the many special friends, customers and employees of all the Tim Hortons stores in Vernon where he enjoyed working. Doug will be remembered most for his love of people and his gift of the gab for he will never be forgotten for his loving smile and his warm kindness to others. A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 at 2:00 PM. from the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. A reception will follow in the Pleasant Valley Tea Room.
