April 14, 1922 to April 10, 2010

Earling Lorentz “Lorne” Brothen passed peacefully on April 10, 2010 in Vernon BC. Lorne was predeceased by his mother and father, three sisters and one brother. He leaves to mourn his wife Geneva and four sons: Dennis (Gwen) and Chris (Cathy) of Vernon BC, Keith of Edmonton and Randy (Ingrid) of Regina Sask. In addition, Lorne leaves to mourn eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorne proudly joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a pilot during the Second World War. Known as a quiet man, that trait was broken when he would speak about his flying experiences and friendships, bringing out photos and sharing memories with his listeners.

Lorne was an avid curler, lawn bowler and skier. He was a dedicated member of the Ostomy Society and Sons of Norway.

Lorne was a gentleman and a gentle man.

Respecting Lorne’s wishes, no funeral services are planned; however, friends are invited to join the family for a tea on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Sandpiper Clubhouse on 1220 – 25 Avenue, Vernon BC.

Donations in Lorne’s memory may be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon BC or a charity of your choice, or just be kind to someone you love today.
