Edward Frederick Zilke

Edward Frederick Zilke, at the age of 92 years, passed away peacefully in the morning of January 27th, 2010 at Polson Residential Care Facility, Vernon, BC. Ed was one of five children born to Fred and Matilda (Rhode) Zilke on September 1st, 1917, ninety miles north of Winnipeg in a district called Chatfield, Manitoba. As an infant, in 1919 his family moved to Springside, Saskatchewan. He attended Windsor School and West Ebenezer Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus as his Saviour. He farmed south of Springside and in 1945 married Isie Gabert. They were blessed with one daughter, Carolyn. Isie and Ed retired from their farm in 1979 and moved to Yorkton, Saskatchewan. In 1992 they moved to Vernon residing there until passing. Ed was predeceased by his wife, Isie; his parents, Fred and Matilda Zilke; sisters, Edith Allen and Hertha Trost; brothers, Samuel and Roland Zilke. He leaves to mourn his passing daughter, Carolyn of Vernon, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 1st, 2010 at Faith Baptist Church, 3908 – 27th Street, Vernon with Reverend Ed Brandt officiating.
