Eleanor Mae Sharp passed away peacefully at Vernon Hospice House with her family around her on Thursday,

November 27, 2008. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by daughter Judy (Clarence) Glaicar of

Grandview; sons John (Donna) Sharp of Armstrong and Barry Sharp of Vernon; grandchildren Jennifer (Steve)

Kritsch, Elliott (Brandy) Sharp, Darryl (Stacy) Sharp, Jim (Tracy) Glaicar, Vicki (Brian) Glaicar and Bradley (Cynthia)

Glaicar; sister-in-law Jesse Freeze; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; extended family

and friends. Born in the Armstrong Hospital May 11, 1915, Eleanor resided in Salmon River on the family farm

with her siblings and her parents. Because of a childhood illness she became deaf when she was two years old.

Then became the amazing task of teaching her to lip read which was done by her mother. She attended school

in Glenema until she was twelve and then went to Vancouver for three years to the Jericho School for the Deaf.

This opened up another world to her and she made many lifelong friends in the deaf community. Eleanor

married Norris John Sharp on November 3, 1943. They lived on the Sharp family farm and

raised their family. When predeceased by her husband in 1974 she moved to Kamloops for a

short time and later settled into her apartment in Vernon where she lived for 25 years. She

helped out friends in their Health Food Store and then got a job at Willy’s Restaurant where

she worked until retirement. When things became a little diffifi cult, Eleanor moved to

Grandview Flats to live with her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Clarence Glaicar.

She loved life, baking, gardening and playing scrabble. Eleanor appreciated

every day that she had and did not let her deafness stop her from enjoying

new friends. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December

5, 2008 at Mountain View Chapel, Armstrong. Donations in memory of
