Elizabeth Grace (Betty) Peden
– April 20, 1915 – December 21, 2007 –
In the early morning hours of
December 21, 2007, our lovely, kind and gentle mother and grandmother, Betty, passed away peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Alexander Wing in Vernon, BC at the age of 92.
Born the beautiful Betty Birks in Vancouver, Mom apparently was sought after by virtually every eligible bachelor in the city according to others, never herself. Fortunately, she chose an interloping air force flyboy from Alberta, our wonderful Dad and Granddad, Doug Peden , who she married in 1940. Daughter Lindy was born two years later, then Blair later on in Ottawa where they resided and worked until their retirement move to Vernon in 1990.
Mom was predeceased by her youngest
brother Peter Birks and then by Dad in 2000. She is survived by her daughter Lindy (Ken) Deas and granddaughters Sue, Steph and families; son, Blair(Jan) Peden and granddaughter Leah; and brother Arnie (Audrey) Birks and Family.
Betty and her family want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the many wonderful people who so enriched her life after Dads’ passing including the staff of Canterbury Court, Downtown Safeway, Hogarths Pharmacy, her great doctor Richard Mori, and the extraordinary Interior Health staff in Community Care and especially the Alexander Wing. You all made such a difference and Mom truly loved you all.
Kind and shy, Mom has left us with a bounty of warm and loving memories.
No service by request, but those wishing
to do so may make a donation in Bettys memory to the Vernon United Way, 3107 32nd Ave., Vernon, BC , V1T2M2. Arrangements have been entrusted to;
