Else Baron

Mrs. Else Baron (nee Jöst) was born on March 28th, 1920 in Schwetzingen, Germany and died peacefully, with her family by her side, on May 30th, 2007 at her residence in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 87 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Hans; her daughters, Vera (Tom) Hamson, Nadja (Tony Mullens) Baron and Luba (Nick Milligan) Baron; her grandchildren, Susan (Miles) Pomaranski, Cheri (Patrick) MacLean, Michael (Pam Leech) Hamson, Kristine (Colin Leneal) Hamson, Nicholas (Whitney Deacon) Mullens and Tarah Mullens; her great-grandchildren, Micheal, Lucas and Ekko MacLean, Sydney and Samantha Leech; her brother, Kurt (Hildegard) Jöst and two nieces; Inge (Günter) Spiess and Waltraud (Thomas Foeder) Weindel. Else married Hans Baron in 1946 and in that same year their eldest daughter, Vera was born. In 1955, Else, Hans and Vera came to Canada, settling in Kitimat, B.C. Else always said that from the moment she came to Canada, she knew that she had come home. The end of 1955 saw the arrival of a long awaited second daughter, Nadja who was followed by Luba in 1958. Else had a passion for gardening and over the years her gardens were recognized with many awards in the local Kitimat garden contests. Her German cakes and Christmas baking were a favourite among all her friends and her children’s friends who still rave about them to this day. The same can be said for her gentle, warm and unselfish personality. But it is probably her wonderful smile and eagerness to laugh at the drop of a hat that everyone will remember her by. In 1979 Else & Hans retired to Coldstream and later moved into Vernon where they remained until Else’s death. Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Else’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 7th, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. Placement of Else’s cremated remains will follow in the Bethel Rose Garden Of Remembrance. The family invites friends to join them immediately following the Committal Service at a Reception which will take place in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Else to the C.N.I.B., 247 Lawrence Avenue, Kelowna, B.C.
